This page gives some information and links to pages about some of our favorite birding areas in or relatively near the Akron area. The best times of year to see specific species at different sites varies, but this information gives you a starting point in your search for "hot" areas.
Some of above information was taken from "Birding in Ohio", 2nd Edition, by Tom Thomson, Indiana University Press, 1994. Also thanks to Mark Purdy for additional information about sites. If you have a favorite nearby birding area, please send information about it to info@akronaudubon.org.
Finally we do conduct bird walks (mostly in the Spring) that are
appropriate for advanced and beginning birders. Check the page at
Spring Bird Walks.
The chapter also
participates in the Christmas Bird Count. For details, check out
Christmas Bird Count
