Ohio sits at the heart of one of the most critical bird migration corridors in the Western Hemisphere. Every spring and fall, millions of songbirds, shorebirds, and raptors funnel along Lake Erie's southern shoreline, making the Greater Akron region and Cuyahoga Valley a globally significant stopover hub. Yet this natural wonder is under threat: nearly 3 billion birds have vanished from North America since 1970, with 75% of species in decline. This presentation provides science, population data, and local actions for Summit County's vast role in hemispheric conservation. |

Biography:
Robin Motzer is the founder of Wildlands, Regeneration Nation: a creative, science-rooted movement helping people regenerate the places they love, from the soil up. Through story, science, and stewardship, we help people restore soils, grow habitat, strengthen communities, and reconnect with the living world. Our work turns everyday acts of care: planting native gardens, nourishing local food systems, creating pollinator pathways, strengthening art and conservation and gathering around shared purpose into a joyful ethos of health, belonging, and ecological renewal. At its heart, Wildlands is an invitation to grow one big garden-- healthier people, wilder places, and a future rooted in care. https://robinmotzer.substack.com |
