About ten years ago, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) created the Lake Erie Birding Trail and an accompanying guidebook to help Ohio residents and visitors discover birding hot spots across the northern edge of the state. Now, a decade later, Jamey Emmert has a lofty goal. She plans to visit all 88 hot spots on the nine birding trails this summer so she can update the Ohio Lake Erie Birding Trail Guidebook. Emmert has been with the ODNR for 22 years and was promoted earlier this year to ODNR Avian Education Coordinator. Although her future goals include updating the Lake Erie Birding Trail website and creating an app for the trail, her current focus is updating the guidebook. As of early July, she has visited about half of the birding trails. (credit: https://www.thebeacon.net/) |
