History
Origins
The Greater Akron Audubon Society chapter traces its origins back to 1934 when a group of birding enthusiasts formed the Cuyahoga Falls Audubon Club. In 2014 with the participation and assistance of the Summit County Metro Parks, we celebrated the 80th anniversary of that historic event.
June 7, 2014The GAAS 80th Anniversary started with a public celebration at the Seiberling Nature Realm. The event was a Summit MetroParks event, in collaboration with GAAS, held from 12 noon until 4:00. Activities included live animals from the Medina Raptor Rehabilitation Center, a display from the Wild Bird Center, the GAAS display, a stuffed ring-necked pheasant, a stuffed passenger pigeon (courtesy of the MetroParks), and children's crafts (making personalized binoculars.)

June 24, 2014The celebration continued at the chapter's June picnic held in the Martin Center of the Bath Nature Preserve with a presentation by Marie Morgan on the history of the chapter into the 1990s. This presentation evolved into the slides which are accessible by clicking the button given below.
